Chitra - Chapter 2 (part 1): Please Nurture After Picking

The sunlight here is too violent. Chitra blankly stared out the window from the bed.

Perhaps because this world is free of smog, the sunlight is several times brighter and hotter than on Earth. The sky is a deep blue, as if blue paint had been spilled across it.

"The ingredients are limited, so the food is simple. But rest assured, I will try to procure higher quality ingredients in the future."

Beneath colorless, odorless white hair that seemed to lack any hue, the man's lips were a sensuous red. His wire-rimmed glasses even made him look ascetic. With gloved hands, he set up a patient's tray table over the bed, then placed the food on it one by one.

He managed to make food of this quality in this mansion, even without a chef.

'Amazing. A 5-star Apostle butler.'

5-star is the highest grade you can get with a summoning ticket. He mentioned in passing that he didn't know the exact probability, but it was something like one in a thousand tries.

'To become a 5-star, you must succeed in missions on the scale of defeating a Demon King, a dragon, or destroying an evil empire in your previous life. Among the 5-stars, I am a dark attribute, and I am also skilled in stealth, ambushes, and other household chores, so I am even rarer.'

As expected, you have to empty your desires when gacha rolling. She was at peace because she didn't know. Until the very last moment before she pressed the button, her mind was the very essence of the clear mirror state spoken of in Buddhism. If she had rolled it just ten minutes later, she would have finally broken through her worldly desires and reached enlightenment.

'It won't be possible next time.'

Now she knew how amazing a 5-star was. There was no way to wash away her worldly desires. Next time she rolled the gacha, she would be consumed by greed.

"Do you know who I am?"

"I know the basics. Information about the Master upon resurrection. And information about this situation. Of course, I don't know the details."

That's possible, she thought with a small exclamation, and asked.

"Your name is Radelk, right? Could you introduce yourself? I only know that you are an Apostle butler who used to be a hero who defeated the Demon King."

The giant golden rabbit statue gave a brief explanation when she summoned him. But that wasn't enough.

"I will introduce myself."

She took a sip of the potato soup. It was so delicious that she coughed. Even though it was just milk and potatoes, the soup was perfect. She had never eaten anything so delicious, even on Earth.

'Goodness, such luxury.'

He apologized for only being able to make this because of the lack of ingredients, but her tongue was already moved to tears by this alone.

"Ah, first, water."

He poured her water. Even the way he poured water was like a noble crane. She had never seen such dignified water-pouring, even in movies.

'Ah, it smells so good.'

A cool water scent came from his suit. Pure white hair, a neat nose and jawline, and a long neck and broad shoulders with a leather whip-like waist were sensual. Covering that wild body was a boxy suit. The sight was even ascetic.

'Is it even possible for a person to be so beautiful?'

And is it okay to receive such service from such a person? She just gulped down the water. When the coughing stopped, she said, "Thank you."

"Perhaps the soup was not at the right temperature. It was my fault."

"Ah, no. Please give it to me just like this. It's really, really, really! Delicious."

He closely observed her condition.

'To receive such service from such a handsome man is a luxury, a luxury.'

The original owner of this body was a countess's daughter and had lived with all sorts of service while her parents were alive, so she would have said, 'Oh my, there's only one servant, how miserable!' But this one is a 21st-century Korean preparing for civil service exams.

And a born-again solo.

'Ugh, ugh. His face is too close.'

Just before her heart exploded, he finally stood up and moved away from her.

"A long time ago, the Demon King appeared. Like many heroes at that time, I went to defeat the Demon King and finally succeeded. Many people praised me for defeating the Demon King."

His gaze turned to a distant place, not here.

"After achieving my goal, I felt empty. Isn't that so? I devoted my life to defeating the Demon King who burned down the village, but even if I killed him, the villagers, my family, would not return. In my emptiness, I hid my identity and wandered the world before dying. I think the reason I returned as a butler is because the most enjoyable thing I did back then was being a butler."

He had such a past.

Back to Before Marriage (Rebirth) - Chapter 1

On New Year’s Eve, H City Central Hospital was quiet and deserted, with very few patients. Aside from those in critical condition or whose homes were far away, almost everyone had gone home to celebrate the New Year. The cardiology ward was nearly empty as well. Mu Yuting’s room was a triple, but tonight she was the only one there. She wasn’t a critical patient, her home was in the city, and she chose not to go back for the holidays—because there was no one at home. Her parents had long passed away, and her daughter was spending the New Year with Mu Yuting’s deadbeat ex-husband. Recently, she had been admitted to the hospital due to intermittent angina and chest tightness. With medical staff on duty and a cafeteria on-site, staying in the hospital was actually convenient. **"Thank you for raising our daughter so well. Now, she’s mine."** That was the message her ex-husband had sent. When she received it, Mu Yuting was sitting beside her hospital bed, eating her New Year’s Eve...

Back to Before Marriage (Rebirth) - Chapter 3

The morning sun did not wake Mu Yuting; instead, it was the alarm on her phone. The familiar melody of a classical-style ringtone played twice before she extended a hand from her warm blanket to silence it, then got up to wash and prepare for the day. She loved this classical tune—in her previous life, she had used it as her ringtone for over thirty years, never changing it until the day she died. Mu's Mother had already prepared a healthy breakfast: freshly ground soy milk from their home soy milk maker and three steamed buns. "Tingting, I've poured you a cup of soy milk. Take two buns to eat on your way." "Got it, Mom." Mother and daughter left home together, each carrying their breakfast, heading off to work. Outside the courtyard, Mu's Mother boarded the company's seven-seater commuter van, while Mu Yuting walked toward the bus stop. They worked at different places, and their routes were completely separate. Fortunately, the bus stop had clear s...

Novice Witch - Chapter 1: The Witch Sets Off

I bow slightly with my hands clasped in front of the house where I've spent many years. "Ouch!" I'm struck from behind with a staff. As I rub my head and turn around, I see my Master standing there, staff in hand. "Don't create an atmosphere like you're saying farewell to the dead." "Tehe~" I'm struck with the staff again. "Sigh, so have you forgotten anything? Did you bring a handkerchief?" "Are you my mother, Master? Well, I suppose you're something similar. Don't worry, I've put everything in my Storage Pouch." I pat the pouch hanging diagonally across my shoulder. "More importantly, will you be alright without me? Can you clean properly? Don't stay cooped up all the time; get some sunlight occasionally, okay?" "Ellie, before you came here, I had always managed on my own, so I'll be fine." Ellie is me. My real name is Ino Eri, a proper Japanese person. It's been about 30...
